Your Community Matters February 2021

So it seems that certain aspects of our work are showcased more than others! Like most organizations we have pieces of our work that somehow have remained best kept secrets. We plan to add an educational component to our newsletters from time to time, to give you the opportunity to learn about us, and potentially share our information as it applies to your life!

Pictured above are fundholder’s loved ones.

Earlier this month, we were meeting with one of our valued fund holders. This particular family has formed a fund in honor of a loved one who is no longer with us. They remarked during our meeting how fitting it was to be able to make a memorial donation in honor of another to their loved one’s fund! “Mom would have been very pleased to know that her fund was being used to honor others!” Yes! In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations to any fund can be made in honor of graduations, weddings, birthdays or other life celebrations. This includes donations in honor of other people in our lives who have passed away. The impact continues as a legacy is built forever!

When such donations are made, our team at the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta issues a memorial letter or tribute letter to the family of the person being honored by the donation. This notifies them that they have been thoughtfully honored during their celebration or loss. We are esteemed to be able to help people make these genuine connections during important times in our lives! And knowing that the contribution will have impact for years to come is the quintessential icing on the cake!

If you have questions or would like to further discuss this part of our work, we would be thrilled to hear from you! We are proud to be connectors! How can we help you make meaningful connections in your life?

Warmly,

Laura LaValley, CEO

Talk to Me First Responder Fund

With a passion for helping others, Dustin Sieker touched many lives during his short time on Earth. “He was extremely loving and caring and it’s not often you meet a person that special,” says Colton Tiedeman, Dustin’s partner. “Just watching him interact with his peers, friends, family and strangers, I knew he was a genuine soul. He was hands down one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever seen or felt.” Read the rest of the story here – https://buildingtomorrow.cloudstudio.ca/talk-to-me-first-responder-fund/
