At 12 years old, Tanya Sedore was thrilled to receive her first camera as a Christmas gift. Life through this new lens eventually developed a path to launch T. Sedore Photography in 1997, celebrating 20 years in business this fall.
Winning more national awards in photography than we can count, Tanya’s creative expertise behind the camera, her passion for giving back to the community, and her hope to encourage creativity in children led to the formation of the Young at Art initiative.
Tanya believes that encouraging and celebrating the creativity of our youth benefits our community. The younger generation also benefits from the confidence gained in embracing their creativity and being able to showcase their images publicly.
September 15, 2017, will mark the 4th consecutive Young at Art fundraiser. Photographers 12 and under who live in the City of Grande Prairie and the County of Grande Prairie are encouraged to enter in the Young at Art photography contest and share their talent with the community.
Proceeds from the event are invested in the Young at Art Fund by T. Sedore Photography, an endowment fund with the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta dedicated to the support of arts & culture among young people in our community. In 2016 the fund supported opportunities for the Creative Arts Centre’s HAPI Program, along with the Clairmont Community School Art Program.

Through the Young at Art initiative, Tanya Sedore has lit a spark and inspired the young creative community in our community to shine brighter. Partnering with the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta to create an endowment fund has ensured that the Young at Art Fund by T. Sedore Photography is building a legacy in our community today and forever. Because of community supporters like Tanya, what a bright and beautiful world this will be!
