High Level and Area Rebuilding Fund

HIGH LEVEL AND AREA REBUILDING FUND LAUNCHED IN COLLABORATION WITH UNITED WAY ALBERTA NORTHWEST

In response to the recent devastation in the community of High Level and area the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta, along with the United Way Alberta Northwest, are launching High Level Rebuilding Funds.

This new fund is in no way to compete with the many emergency response efforts going on. “The Canadian Red Cross and Salvation Army are experienced in emergency response efforts and do a great job, this new fund is focused more on the long term rebuilding of social and community infrastructure for the area,” says Tracey Vavrek, CEO of the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta.  “High Level and area have been hit hard, and the losses will take some time to recover from and build upon. The community response from local businesses and individuals is so great to see; together we can restore hope and give this community a chance to rebuild their lives.”

“United Way Alberta Northwest resides in the City of Grande Prairie. However, our region is about 19% of Alberta from Grande Cache to the NWT border and from Slave Lake to the B.C Border.  A collaborative relationship between United Way Alberta Northwest and the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta has been mobile for many years so the decision to create a Recovery Fund together seemed like the most natural approach. We want to give people another option when it comes to supporting those affected by the fires.” Said Jamie Craig, Executive Director of United Way Alberta Northwest.

The High Level Rebuilding Fund will not be endowed perpetually like other Community Foundation Funds. The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta and the United Way Alberta Northwest will hold all donations received until the community of High Level can best use the funds.

All funds dispersed from the High Level Rebuilding Fund back to High Level will go towards rebuilding community.

Those wishing to support the High Level Rebuilding Fund can contact our office at 780.538.2820 or visit https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/41803 to make an online donation.

Like other province wide and local emergency funds, the High Level Rebuilding Fund is another wonderful opportunity to show people in these devastated areas how much we care.

The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta is a registered charitable public foundation that provides a way for anyone to leave a lasting legacy in our community. By working with donors to create endowed funds, the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta helps ensure sustainable charitable funding to meet ever changing needs in our community, forever.
