Grande Prairie Live Theatre Fund

Charities do vital work within their communities. From arts & culture to social services, community supports, education and more, these organizations are often the backbone that supports the region where they operate and the Grande Prairie Live Theatre is no exception.

GPLT Building

The Grande Prairie Live Theatre is a charitable organization that has been supporting the arts & culture sector in our region for 54 years. In the early 1930’s Grande Prairie was a cultural hotspot with a variety of musical and theatre groups that were active in the community. The local theatre group and the operatic society joined forces to the Grande Prairie Little Theatre Society in 1963, later becoming known as the Grande Prairie Live Theatre.

The organization not only puts on a wide selection of performances from musicals to dinner theatre and plays, but acts as an arts & culture incubator, supporting and growing local arts projects to sustainable and successful organizations of their own. The prestigious Reel Shorts Film Festival and the Grande Prairie Children’s Festival are just two examples of their community building work.

In 2005, the organization established the Grande Prairie Live Theatre Fund, an agency fund held at the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta. Like all endowment funds held at your Community Foundation, this agency fund invests all contributions which generate interest. Each year the Grande Prairie Live Theatre Fund invests the earned interest back into the organization, providing a simple way to invest in your organization, for today and forever.

GPLT President Caitlin Card, “GPLT receives a higher interest rate than we can get at our bank. Plus the endowment funds are there forever giving GPLT an annual grant that we can depend on. We are impressed with the professional investing strategies of the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta.”

Agency funds are a simple way for an organization to create their own endowment, while also allowing members of the public to make contributions, today and as future gifts, to their beloved local organizations.

For local charitable organizations, establishing a fund through your Community Foundation is an investment in the future of your organization.

You can make a difference in our community – not only for today but forever.  When you make a donation to the Grande Prairie Live Theatre Fund.

Donations can be made online here – or by calling the Community Foundation at (780) 538-2820.
