December 2018 Enews

Twelve years from now, your future self is going to thank you for something you did today, for an asset you began to build, a habit you formed, a seed you planted.

Even if you’re not sure of where it will lead, today’s the day to begin.

On December 5th, at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre, you could feel an overwhelming sense of community throughout the room. We came together at Invest Northwest to invest in community and celebrate impact, and what an impact it was! Your Community Foundation invested $221,725.00 into the region through our Student Awards and Community Impact Grants. 33 students and 55 charitable agencies felt the impact of this amazing evening.

It is through the overwhelming support of our community and the dedicated individuals who became champions of the Foundation 22 years ago that we can continue to make an impact in building community throughout our region, for today and forever. To see the many deserving recipients connect with our community, and amazing fundholders at Invest Northwest was rewarding and utterly humbling. These investments will help shift the needle in our region, building healthier, more resilient communities than we had yesterday.

Thank you!

On behalf of the board of directors and our staff, we wish you a wonderful holiday season surrounded by special people and a New Year filled with peace, joy and health.

Warmest Wishes,

Sustainable Development Goals:

A blueprint toward a more sustainable, inclusive & prosperous community

The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta tackles some of the community’s most challenging problems and works in collaboration with leaders and citizens to bring together opportunities to address these issues to create healthy, sustainable communities. In the upcoming year, we will be exploring these issues and opportunities through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs are a set of global goals and targets that are important for all sectors of society and every individual. They are intended to frame global efforts to end poverty, protect people and the planet, promote inclusivity and ensure prosperity for all by 2030.

We will be providing more updates about our exciting upcoming work. Click the link to learn more about the Sustainable Development Goals. https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/
