COVID-19 Funds being matched at the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta

We’ve had a lot of questions around our COVID-19 funds this past week so we’re going to share some facts to assist:

1. We have two COVID-19 Funds. The Better Together COVID-19 Response fund, responding to the current challenges of our local organizations, will support recovery of these essential organizations, and will lead in supporting the rebuilding of our region for the wellbeing of all citizens. And the Community Kitchen and Foodbank Fund, designated to support the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre Community Kitchen hot meal program and Salvation Army Foodbank needs.

2. We have been approved under the Canada Helps “Community Care Fund” as one of potentially 500 charities to receive matching dollars by their partner, the Gore Mutual Foundation, up to a maximum aggregate amount of $1,000,000 CAD for donations made online to one of our COVID-19 Funds between March 31st to April 30th.

3. The Government of Alberta has chosen our Community Foundation as one of seven charitable organizations of which they will match donations up to $2 million to Alberta-based charities and non-profit organizations with COVID-19 fundraising campaigns. Monetary donations received for one of our COVID-19 Funds between April 15th- May 31st will be eligible for this matching opportunity.

4. We at the CFNWAB are waiving any administration fees associated with campaign donations made to either of our COVID-19 Funds.

Thank you to our community for your continued support of our region!
