In 2012 the Wembley Fire Department created the Chief Ronald W. Clarke fund to honour its namesake and one of their own beloved Firefighters. This fund provides a scholarship award to a County of Grande Prairie resident who demonstrates a strong commitment and/or roots in the Peace Country and who is a student registered in an emergency service program including firefighting, emergency medical services, paramedic, nursing and physician, or enforcement services.
In Ron’s 46 years as a volunteer Firefighter he consistently logged more hours for fire and medical calls, meetings and training than any other member of the Fire Department.

Over his career he was awarded several honours and awards. In 2005, Ron was recognized within the County of Grande Prairie No.1 by his peers in seven fire departments as ‘Firefighter of the Year’. His dedication to his community and the department was like no other.
“Not all men are created equal, only the finest become Firefighters” and Ron was just that, one of the finest and he will be missed forever.
You can make a difference in our community – not only for today but forever. When you make a donation to the Chief Ronald W. Clarke Fund, we invest that gift into a permanent endowment fund and the original gift is never spent. Earnings from your gift is distributed to a student award. Donations can be made online here – https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/59908 or by calling the Community Foundation at (780) 538-2820.
