2000 Summer Games Fund
A Legacy for the 2000 summer games that will last forever
“If post-secondary education is to become accessible for qualified students, then there will always be students that need help. I am proud that we can support their education goals through the 2000 Alberta Summer Games Fund with the Community Foundation. There can never be too much help for local students.” – Andy Beal, Chair 2000 Summer Games

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” – William Arthur Ward

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE
Feeding those in need
When we hear the words poverty and hunger, many of us envision the same things, the man with tattered clothes and a worn blanket curled up on a street corner or a shoeless child, with a bloated belly, and hopeless eyes being encircled by flies in their tiny home.

Hannah’s Story
In Loving Memory of Hannah Ouellette
Hannah Lee Andrea Ouellette was born March 12, 1997, to proud parents Tammy and Andre Ouellette, big brother Keifer, and big sister Madeline. As the baby of the family, Hannah liked the attention and got away with much more than Keifer and Madeline. Hannah was determined, demanding, and she always got the last word. She enjoyed teasing and was empathetic and compassionate.

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY THAT GAVE HIM SO MUCH
“We were honouring his wishes, shortly before his passing, my father approached Cathy and I and said: “I feel I’ve got far more out of Grande Prairie than I have put into it. I want to ensure a portion of my estate is invested back into the community – you guys figure out how to do it” says son Bob Beattie.

AUGUST 2016
team work . . . makes the dream work . . .
Now that we are coming down from the high of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and the success of our Canadian athletes, we can only imagine the years of commitment and preparation they put into their passion for their sport. Their training doesn’t come for free, they will sacrifice much, as will their families for their dream to become an Olympian.

JULY 2016
What if communities were inclusive for ALL citizens?
What if educational opportunities were available to anyone who needed them? . . . .
What if anyone could leave a legacy . . . .would you?
All-inclusive communities, educational opportunities and funding to anyone who needs it, and a legacy for everyone who wishes it… This is the dream that we at the Community Foundation truly believe and strive towards. For the last 20 years dedicated community members have been paving the way for others to see this vision come to fruition.

JUNE 2016
The tests we face in life’s journey are not to reveal our weaknesses but to help us discover our inner strengths. . . .
We can only know how strong we are when we strive and thrive beyond the challenges we face.” ― Kemi Sogunl
It truly is hard to put into words unless you live it. Trekking through Peru along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was a much bigger journey than I imagined.
